THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE

AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE FAILED MENTAL HEALTH POLICIES WITHIN THE US MILITARY AND THE DEADLY CONSEQUENCES TO AMERICA’S TROOPS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TAKES AIM AT OUR UNDERSTANDING OF WAR TRAUMA THROUGH THE INTERWOVEN STORIES OF FOUR STRUGGLING IRAQ WAR VETERANS AND CANDID INTERVIEWS WITH TOP MILITARY AND CIVILIAN LEADERS.

The film posits that from the moment someone enters the armed services, their mental health is as important as their physical well-being and that by the creation of a Behavioral Health Corps (BHC), services and treatment can be effectively streamlined and create long term accountability.

Featuring interviews with General David Petraeus, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Chairman of the Joint Cheifs Admiral Mike Mullen, General Loree Sutton, Dexter Filkins, Senator Patty Murray, Gary Sinise, and Nicholas Kristof.

Reviews & Press

Scenes ... make you want to scream in frustration at the bureaucracy faced by combat veterans seeking mental health services.

Eliciting outrage and shame in equal measure, Thank You for Your Service details the lack of mental-health support offered to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces-and the tragic consequence of that neglect.

... it's not the expert commentary, as illuminating as it is, that gives the film its power. Rather, it's the handful of veterans who discuss their emotional struggle...

The first-person chronicles of the walking wounded give the documentary its urgency and power.

Impact

An amendment was introduced on May 9th, 2018 by Congressman Seth Moulton into the National Defense Authorization Act to create an independent study about the efficacy of the current organization and practices for mental health in the military.

This amendment was inspired by the documentary.

We continue to advocate for the creation of a Behavioral Health Corps in the US military.
